Boat owners know the frustration of finding their batteries flat or damaged after months of winter storage. The new sleep mode function from Exide Technologies, however, addresses this issue. It ensures batteries remain in optimal condition – even after prolonged periods of inactivity.
The sleep mode function automatically activates after 30 days of idleness, triggering various events; the battery deactivates non-critical functions, such as Bluetooth, which significantly reduces internal power consumption. Additionally, the battery terminals are electronically disconnected inside the battery, which prevents discharge during storage.
Reactivating the battery is simple: just recharge it. Within seconds, the battery reactivates, allowing for both discharge and charging functions. It is important to note that the battery charger must be capable of charging from 0 V to successfully revive the battery, as the terminals are electronically disconnected.
